Recently, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding has efficiently achieved multiple construction milestones, striving toward its annual production and operation targets with a spirited and enterprising attitude.
On September 11, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding held a steel-cuting ceremony at its Longxue shipyard for the first vessel in a series of 4,300 TEU container ships being built specifically for Ningbo Ocean Shipping, marking the official transition of the strategic partnership between the two companies into the actual construction phase.
The 4,300 TEU green, smart container ship now under construction is Ningbo Ocean Shipping’s flagship upgraded vessel, designed to align with the global trend toward low-carbon shipping. The vessel boasts excellent performance specifications and offers outstanding advantages, including high loading efficiency, low operating costs, energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, and broad adaptability, making it fully suited to the operational requirements of major international shipping routes.
The implementation of this shipbuilding project will effectively expand Ningbo Ocean Shipping’s high-end deep-sea shipping capacity, optimize its fleet structure, and significantly enhance the company’s core competitiveness in the international market.
One vessel of the 1900 TEU ELB series completed sea trials; another was launched
On September 4, the first vessel of the 1,900 TEU container ship series built by Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding for the German company Elbdeich—departed for sea trials. Prior to the trials, the vessel successfully completed all mooring tests, and all issues raised by the shipowner and classification society were fully resolved. The hull coating was completely refinished, and areas such as the boatswain’s store, bow thruster compartment, pipe tunnel, and cable ducts reached a finished state, thereby achieving three key targets: “zero issues, zero outstanding items, and near-complete coating.”
The success of this “zero-issue” sea trial marks a significant milestone in the ongoing pursuit of management goals targeting “zero issues” at the stages of block assembly, dry-dock exit, sea trials, and final delivery. Building on this success, the No. 3 Final Assembly Department aims to consolidate its experience and standardize processes, thereby setting a higher benchmark for the construction and delivery of the remaining vessels in the series.
On September 9, the second vessel in the series, successfully launched from Dry Dock No. 2 at the Wenchong facility.
The successful launching of the vessel has accumulated rich experience for the subsequent short-dock-period construction of 1900 TEU container ships, forming a replicable and scalable shipyard construction template featuring short dry-docking periods and high readiness. Moving forward, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding will continue to deepen lean management, amplify the impact of reforms, and consistently enhance the construction quality and efficiency of this series of vessels.
In addition, Huangchuan Engineering—a subsidiary of Huangpu Wenchong—successfully completed the repair and delivery of “Zhanjiangwan No. 1,” the world’s first floating dynamic positioning all-range cage-farming support vessel, marking a breakthrough from “zero to one” in the repair business for specialized deep-sea aquaculture vessels.
