On September 15, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC SOE) successfully delivered the final vessel in the first batch of 40,000 m³ LPG/liquefied ammonia carriers. With this delivery, CIMC SOE has successfully completed the project to build four 40,000 m³-class clean energy carriers for the international shipping giant Exmar.
The project officially commenced on June 6, 2023; the first vessel was launched on May 12, 2025; and the final vessel was delivered on September 14, 2026. During the construction process, CIMC SOE achieved a series of technical and construction breakthroughs.
As the primary vessel type designed to support the development of green shipping, this batch of 40K-class carriers combines three core advantages: versatility, cost-effectiveness, and environmental friendliness. They are suitable for transporting a variety of clean energy sources, including LPG and liquid ammonia, and are perfectly aligned with the global shipping industry’s trend toward low-carbon transformation and the upgrading of clean energy storage and transportation.
The vessel features an industry-leading liquid cargo storage and handling system and energy-efficient design. Its safety performance, range, and cargo efficiency all meet world-class standards, enabling it to effectively meet the demand for stable, efficient, and environmentally friendly transportation of clean energy cargoes across the oceans.
After delivery, the vessel will officially enter service on global clean energy shipping routes, providing core equipment support for the development of an international green shipping network.
