COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry Takes Step Toward A-Share Listing

The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) has disclosed that COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry”) has completed the filing for pre-listing guidance and plans to launch an initial public offering (IPO) and list on the A-share market. According to the filing report, the guidance process is being jointly led by China International Capital Corporation Limited (CICC) and China Merchants Securities Co., Ltd.

COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry is a large-scale heavy industry enterprise integrating shipbuilding, offshore engineering equipment construction, ship repair and conversion, and related support services. Its origins date back to the Hongxiangxing Machine Shipyard, established in Shanghai in 1924. The company was formed in 2016 through the restructuring and integration of three ship repair and shipbuilding enterprises previously under the China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company and China Shipping (Group) Company; headquartered in Shanghai, it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the central state-owned enterprise China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited.

  • Northern region: COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (Dalian) Co., Ltd. (DACKS), Dalian COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry, and Tianjin COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry
  • East China region: Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS), COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Yangzhou), COSCO SHIPPING (Qidong) Offshore, Nantong COSCO SHIPPING Marine Engineering, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan), and COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Shanghai)
  • South China region: Guangdong COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry and COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Yangjiang)

According to the prospectus for the sci-tech innovation bonds issued by China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry ranks first globally in ship repair and conversion volume and second domestically in shipbuilding capacity; it possesses R&D and construction capabilities for various green vessels—including those powered by methanol, ammonia, LNG, and pure battery systems—and undertakes multiple major national innovation projects for marine and offshore equipment.

As a top-tier Chinese shipbuilding and repair enterprise, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry’s launch of an A-share listing marks a major capital market event in the shipbuilding sector.
