On July 27, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding officially delivered a 48,000-cubic-meter LPG/NH3 carrier built for the Greek company Benelux. A naming ceremony was held for the vessel on July 22, at which it was named “Olympios Gas”.
This vessel is currently the largest medium-sized gas carrier built in South China, featuring an overall length of 190 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters, and a molded depth of 19 meters. It is equipped with three independent, fully refrigerated Type-A cargo tanks constructed from low-temperature carbon-manganese steel, offering a total cargo capacity of 48,000 cubic meters.
The vessel’s design complies with IMO Tier III emission standards and incorporates next-generation eco-friendly equipment. It features an extended 7.5-year dry-docking interval and an ice-class notation. Beyond transporting various petrochemical products such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), the vessel is capable of transporting liquid ammonia and handling multiple cargo types. With its high versatility and outstanding operational cost-efficiency, it is a mainstream “green” vessel design widely recognized in the global shipping market.
The successful delivery of this vessel marks a significant milestone in Huangpu Wenchong’s transition from a “specialist in small gas carriers” to a “leader in medium-sized gas carriers,” holding pivotal importance for the company’s strategic transformation and high-quality development.
