On June 30, China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) announced that it had taken delivery of the “Sea Creation”—a large 175,000 cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier—through a controlled single-ship subsidiary. Following delivery, the vessel will operate under a long-term LNG transportation agreement signed with Sinochem Petroleum Shipping (Singapore) Pte Ltd.

The announcement disclosed that this vessel is the third in the series—and the first of the optional vessels—ordered by CMES from Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) in 2022 as part of a “2+2” order for energy-efficient, eco-friendly LNG carriers of the same design.
As of the date of the announcement, CMES’s LNG shipping segment (including its associate CLNG) managed and operated 35 vessels, with 29 vessels on order.
The “Sea Creation” shares the same specifications as the “Sea Spirit” and “Sea Navigator,” which are scheduled for delivery in September 2025 and January 2026, respectively. It complies with the latest international design concepts for LNG carriers and features exceptional port accessibility and ship-to-shore compatibility. The vessel is equipped with a new LNG dual-fuel slow-speed main engine that integrates an ICER system, meeting the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) highest emission standards in both fuel oil and gas modes. The liquid cargo tanks utilize the GTT Mark III Flex containment system, with a daily evaporation rate of only 0.085%; the vessels are also equipped with a reliquefaction system capable of efficiently handling LNG vapor.
As previously reported, the Sea Creation was named on June 18 and is the third LNG carrier built by DSIC. The project’s first two sister vessels, the Sea Spirit and the Sea Navigator, were delivered in September 2025 and January 2026, respectively; they have since completed over ten voyages, demonstrating stable and efficient operations.
