Xiangshui Wanlong Heavy Industry Kicks Off Construction for 211,000 DWT Bulk Carrier

On June 10, Xiangshui Wanlong Heavy Industry successfully held a groundbreaking ceremony for its 211,000 DWT large bulk carrier. The contract for this vessel was signed in December 2025.

It is reported that the vessel has an overall length of 300 meters, a beam of 50 meters, a service speed of approximately 14.5 knots, and a range of 27,000 nautical miles, making it the first ultra-large bulk carrier built by a shipyard in northern Jiangsu.

The entire shipbuilding process strictly adhered to the standards of the China Classification Society, employing a multi-dimensional, end-to-end inspection model that comprehensively covered every stage, including raw material verification, equipment delivery, welding procedures, and on-site construction. All control requirements were assigned to specific positions and individuals, ensuring that the entire shipbuilding process was conducted in a compliant and rigorous manner, with quality maintained under control throughout.

The meeting further clarified Xiangshui Wanlong’s primary responsibility for quality and improved mechanisms for identifying potential quality risks and handling emergencies. In the event of a major quality issue, work must be suspended immediately and the matter reported without delay. At the same time, the company will strengthen the centralized management of subcontractors and strictly verify marine supplies and equipment against the list of certified suppliers to ensure quality control in shipbuilding from the source.
