On May 29, Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, delivered the “CSL KULEANA,” the fourth 80,000 DWT self-unloading bulk carrier built for a Canadian shipowner, which has now entered service and set sail on its maiden voyage.

The vessel has an overall length of 229.00 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, a depth of 20.15 meters, and a designed draft of 14.40 meters, and is classed by ABS.
The vessel’s propulsion system is equipped with a Tier III methanol-ready main engine featuring EGR, capable of switching to methanol fuel in the future, which can reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by approximately 80%, sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions by 99%, and carbon dioxide emissions by 10%; In terms of operational efficiency, the vessel is equipped with electric roll-up side-sliding hatch covers and a new-generation self-unloading system, reducing reliance on specific port unloading facilities and enabling continuous, efficient cargo transshipment with an unloading rate of up to 5,000 tons per hour; it is also equipped with a 1,500 kW CPP side-thrust system, providing flexibility to adapt to berthing and unloading operations at various ports.
According to reports, construction of the vessel began in late April 2025. A naming ceremony was held on March 13, 2026, and sea trials were successfully completed in mid-April, with all test results exceeding the targets set during the development phase. On May 29, representatives from all parties signed the delivery documents for the “CSL KULEANA.”
