Jiangsu Weihua Ocean Heavy Industry Commences Lifting of 2,400-Ton Gantry Crane at Wison New Energies Qidong Yard

According to Jiangsu Weihua Ocean Heavy Industry, on May 6, the lifting operation officially commenced for the second ultra-heavy-tonnage, large-span gantry crane—a 2,400-ton, 200-meter single-girder gantry crane—at Wison New Energies Qidong Yard.

It is reported that this equipment was constructed by Jiangsu Weihua Ocean Heavy Industry. It features a design incorporating two 2×600-ton upper trolleys and one 700/50-ton lower trolley, all arranged on the same rail. The upper and lower trolleys are capable of traversing past one another, and the crane boasts a maximum lifting capacity of up to 2,400 tons across the entire span of its main girder.

In the future, this 2,400-ton gantry crane will work in tandem with another large-span 1,200-ton gantry crane to carry out the lifting, transport, and assembly operations for ship hulls and offshore structural sections at the marine engineering base.

The Wison New Energies Qidong Yard spans approximately 1.2 million square meters, has a coastline of 1,372 meters, and is equipped with a 520M(L) x 90M(W) offshore dock. The overall planning and design of Qidong Yard is completed by China Shipbuilding NDRI Engineering Co., Ltd.

Phase I of the project is anticipated to be completed and put into operation by the fourth quarter of 2025. By then, it will become a strategic pillar of enhancing WNE’s production capacity. The Qidong Yard will further empower Wison by delivering competitive integrated EPCIC solutions, such as large and ultra-large floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) units, low-carbon floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units, and modular projects, etc., promoting the implementation of innovative projects and driving the high-quality growth of the local marine economy.
