Jiangnan Shipyard Delivers 99,000 m³ VLEC “GAS SYRINGA” to Southwest Shipping

On April 27, Jiangnan Shipyard delivered the 99,000 m³ Very Large Ethane Carrier (VLEC) “GAS SYRINGA” (H2713), built for Southwest Shipping. The vessel was christened on March 26.

The 99,000 m³ VLEC was independently designed and built by Jiangnan Shipyard, utilizing the company’s proprietary Type B cargo containment system (BrillianceE®). Its comprehensive technical specifications have been certified as being at the international leading level.

This vessel has an overall length of 230 meters and is designed to transport a variety of liquefied industrial and energy gases, including ethane, ethylene, and LPG. It offers significant economic benefits due to its low fuel (or gas) consumption, low boil-off rate (BOR), absence of liquid level loading restrictions, and low maintenance costs. It is the first vessel of its kind to be equipped with an “ethane” dual-fuel main engine, shaft generators, and a variety of energy-saving systems.

Jiangnan Shipyard stated that this vessel type is the optimal design “tailored specifically” for long-distance ethane transport in the United States, while also offering broad compatibility with major LPG terminals worldwide.
