Fujian Shipbuilding Launches Construction on Multi-Vessel Series Including LNG Dual-Fuel PCTC and Self-Propelled Barges

On March 12, Mawei Shibuilding under Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group commenced construction of a 5,500 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC (Hull NO.MW468-5).

The vessel has an overall length of 190 meters, a beam of 35.6 meters, a maximum draft of 9.5 meters, a deadweight tonnage of approximately 7,800 tons, and a speed of no less than 18 knots. The vessel employs an electric RORO system with 11 decks, including movable decks on levels 4, 6, and 8. Designed for unrestricted navigation (excluding polar waters), it transports passenger vehicles, vans, buses, trucks, freight container trailers, and other tall and heavy ro-or cargo, as well as new energy vehicles and certain packaged dangerous goods compliant with IMDG regulations.

On March 12, Fujian Funing Shipbuilding Heavy Industry, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group, kicked off construction of a 12,000 DWT self-propelled barge (Hull NO.MW716-13).

The vessel has an overall length of 119.9 meters, a beam of 30 meters, a depth of 7.15 meters, a design draft of 4.96 meters, and a maximum draft of 4.96 meters. The vessel accommodates 16 crew members, maintains a service speed of 10.3 knots, and has a maximum deadweight of approximately 12,200 tons at full load. It is rated for unrestricted navigation.

Classed by China Classification Society, the vessel is primarily used for transporting bauxite, lump iron ore, iron ore fines, coal, sand, and general cargo.

It is understood that a total of 15 vessels are planned for this series, with Fujian Shipbuilding Industry undertaking the construction of 11 of them. The project launched this time is the ninth vessel in the series. Currently, Fujian Shipbuilding Industry is accelerating the construction process to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of this series of vessels.

On March 12, Mawei Shipyard under Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group successfully launched a 9,000 DWT specialized liquid cargo vessel (MW518-3).

The vessel has an overall length of 119.8 meters, a beam of 21.2 meters, a depth of 11.2 meters, and a design draft of 7.1 meters. Classed by CCS, it is rated for unlimited navigation and is primarily designed for the transportation of liquid petroleum asphalt and petroleum products (with a flash point exceeding 60°C).
