On March 9, Tsuneishi Shipbuilding announced via its official website that its Tsuneishi Yura Dockyard has recently completed the prescribed technical training provided by GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz) concerning the repair and maintenance of membrane-type LNG carriers. The company has consequently obtained the Approved Repair Yard license from GTT.

GTT’s membrane containment systems currently equip approximately 85% of the LNG carrier fleet in operation worldwide. In this context, it was essential to further strengthen our expertise as the ship repairer in these advanced technologies, which are widely used onboard new-generation LNG carriers.

To date, Tsuneishi Yura Dockyard has focused on repair work for MOSS-type LNG carriers, accumulating a total of 108 completed vessels since the first one in 1982.
In line with the growing global momentum towards the zero emissions, the importance of LNG as the transition fuel increases year by year. Alongside LNG carriers, we are steadily accumulating repair experience on LNG-fuelled vessels. We will work as one company to become a dockyard supporting decarbonisation within the maritime industry.
Since its founding in 1973, Tsuneishi Yura Dockyard has been one of Japan’s largest dedicated ship repair facilities, undertaking the repair and modification of a wide range of vessel types including LNG carriers, general merchant ships, ferries, government vessels, and specialised ships.
