Subsea7 Secures Two Major Contracts for Offshore Wind and Deepwater Energy Projects

Subsea7 has announced the award of two sizeable contracts, bolstering its portfolio across offshore wind and deepwater oil and gas developments, with both contracts valued between $50 million and $150 million.

The awards cover a German offshore wind farm project for Skyborn Renewables and a deepwater waterflood project for Shell in the US Gulf of Mexico, with offshore operations for both set to commence in 2027.

Seaway7, a part of the Subsea7 Group, has been awarded the contract by OWP Gennaker (a subsidiary of Skyborn Renewables) for the Gennaker offshore wind farm in Germany. Seaway7’s scope of work for the project encompasses the transportation and installation of 63 monopiles and their corresponding transition pieces.

Stuart Fitzgerald, CEO of Seaway7, commented on the award, highlighting the company’s proven expertise in the German market: “Seaway7 has a strong track record in Germany, having supported over 20 projects and enabled almost 3,500 MW of clean energy for the country. We are delighted to bring this experience to the project and continue our collaboration with Skyborn Renewables, this time on the Gennaker offshore wind farm.”

In parallel, Subsea7 has been awarded a sizeable contract by Shell for the Kaikias Waterflood project, a deepwater development located in the Mars-Ursa Basin, approximately 210 kilometres off the Louisiana coast in the US. For this project, Subsea7 will deliver the transportation and installation of a subsea umbilical, riser, and a rigid flowline, operating in water depths of up to 1,650 metres. Project management and engineering activities will kick off immediately from Subsea7’s Houston, Texas office.

Craig Broussard, Senior Vice President for Subsea7 Gulf of Mexico, noted the contract reinforces the long-standing partnership with Shell: “This award strengthens our long-standing and successful collaboration with Shell. We are bringing our deepwater experience to the Kaikias development and delivering cost-effective solutions that will support safe and efficient project execution, helping Shell maximise long-term value from the field.”
