In January 2026, Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry officially kicked off construction of the second 113,600 DWT LNG dual-fuel tanker for Union Maritime Limited (UML).

The vessel has an overall length of approximately 249.9 meters, a beam of 44 meters, and a deadweight of about 113,600 tons. It was designed by Shanghai Design and Research Institute of Shipbuilding (SDARI).
The vessel is designed as a double-bottom, double-hulled structure with a stern-deck configuration, equipped with a single-engine, single-propeller propulsion system and an LNG dual-fuel system. It features two sails, each with three rigid wing sails. Each sail can be precisely controlled via a hydraulic mechanism at its base and an intelligent control system, enabling automatic capture of optimal wind direction for energy efficiency.
In terms of environmental performance, the vessels strictly meet the NOxTIER emission standards and rely on LNG dual-fuel power technology to significantly reduce carbon emissions and pollutant emissions, precisely matching the global shipping industry’s green and low-carbon transformation trend, and possessing the dual advantages of energy saving, environmental protection and strong adaptability.
As the largest vessel currently under construction in Fujian Province, the commencement of this type of oil tanker demonstrates Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry’s efficient production organization capabilities and solid technical reserves. Currently, Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry holds orders for 10 such oil tankers, and its market recognition continues to rise.
Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry stated that with increasingly fierce competition in the global shipbuilding industry, green and low-carbon development has become the core direction for the industry. Taking the commencement of construction on its second 113,600 DWT LNG dual-fuel tanker as an opportunity, Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry will continue to deepen its involvement in the high-end shipbuilding field and continuously strengthen technological innovation and capacity expansion.
