Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding Delivers Fourth 66,000 DWT Ultra-Handymax Bulker to Singaporean Owner

On January 23, Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Yangtze River Shipbuilding Group, delivered the fourth new-generation 66,000 DWT ultra-handymax bulk carrier “UTHITA NAREE” to a Singaporean shipowner. The vessel set off from the shipyard’s wharf, commencing its maiden voyage and entering service.

The UTHITA NAREE is the first wide-body, shallow-draft, next-generation ultra-handy bulk carrier designed and upgraded by Yangzi Mitsui Shipbuilding based on the MES-S concept, meeting Tier III and EEDI Phase III standards.

The vessel’s construction period was approximately nine months, with mass cutting commencing in mid-April 2025. Sea trials were successfully completed in early December, with all test results exceeding the research and design standards. On January 19, 2026, Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding held a grand naming ceremony for the vessel, and representatives from all parties signed the delivery documents for the “UTHITA NAREE” vessel, marking the successful completion of the project.
