WE Delivers Two Type A Liquid Cargo Tanks for COSCO SHIPPING’s 88K VLGC Project

On January 5, two large Type A liquid cargo tanks were successfully delivered to the COSCO SHIPPING (Qidong) Offshore, marking the successful completion of the shipment of the No. 1 and No. 2 Type A liquid cargo tanks built by Watts Energy & Engineering (WE) for the 88K VLGC (Very Large Gas Carrier).

It is understood that this VLGC project has obtained dual certification from CCS and LR, fully complying with the stringent requirements for Type A independent liquid cargo tanks stipulated in the IMO’s IGC Code.

Leveraging its technical expertise in manufacturing core equipment for liquefied gas carriers, WE has undertaken the construction of Tanks 1 and 2 for the first vessel in this series. Tank 1, with a deadweight of approximately 1,170 tons, and Tank 2, weighing about 1,200 tons, were successfully loaded onto the vessel at WE’s heavy-lift ro-ro terminal on January 3 and January 4, respectively.

Currently, WE is accelerating the construction of the No. 3 Type A cargo hold for the N1254 series vessel. The hold is scheduled for shipment after the Spring Festival, providing strong support for the subsequent batch delivery of the VLGC project.

The successful shipment of this Type A liquid cargo tank not only demonstrates WE’s professional capabilities and efficient execution in large-scale liquid tank manufacturing, but also propels its collaboration with COSCO SHIPPING (Qidong) Offshore into a new phase. Building upon the successful completion of the VLGC series Type A tank project, both parties continue to deepen their cooperation, expanding their business scope from liquid cargo tank manufacturing to diversified offshore engineering fields, thereby injecting new momentum into their high-quality development.
