Jiangsu’s Ship Exports Surge 37% YoY: Yangtze Clusters Cement Global Leadership with Multi-Year Order Books

According to statistics from Nanjing Customs, in the first 11 months of 2025, the export value of ships from Jiangsu Province reached 130.59 billion yuan (approximately US$18.635 billion), a year-on-year increase of 37%. Leveraging the wave of high-end, intelligent, and green transformation, shipbuilding clusters along the Yangtze River—including Zhenjiang, Taizhou, and Jingjiang—have secured ample orders and maintained robust exports. Major shipyards in these regions have order books extending through 2027–2030, underscoring the global competitiveness of China’s shipbuilding clusters.

Zhenjiang’s shipbuilding and offshore engineering industry continues to surge, with exports reaching 2.68 billion yuan (approximately $382 million) in the first 11 months—a staggering 154.2% year-on-year increase. Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry prioritizes green environmental certifications, with multiple technical indicators achieving leading domestic and international standards. In the first 11 months of this year, the company’s exported vessels exceeded 1 billion yuan in value, marking exponential growth compared to the same period last year.

Taizhou’s high-end shipbuilding industry is emerging as a major player. Since its establishment, Taizhou Sanfu Shipbuilding has delivered over 100 vessels of various types. Its 10,000-ton class multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels command over one-third of the global market share. The company’s independently developed dual-fuel propulsion technology, paired with ultra-large LNG tanks, leads the industry in energy efficiency and environmental performance. Order volume doubled year-on-year in the second half of the year, with the annual target of delivering 16 vessels largely achieved.

As China’s largest privately-owned shipbuilding base and a national-level ship export hub, Jingjiang exported newly built vessels worth 33.47 billion yuan (approximately $4.776 billion) in the first 11 months, marking a 6.8% year-on-year increase. Recently, Jiangsu New Times Shipbuilding signed an order with Maersk for 8+4 LNG dual-fuel powered large container ships, with a total value of approximately $2.3 billion (about 16.4 billion yuan).
