Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC SOE) has recently signed a formal contract with a European owner to build a 6,000 m³ LNG bunkering vessel. Designed to supply clean fuel at European ports, the newbuilding will play a key role in advancing the decarbonization of European shipping.
CIMC SOE stated that the implementation of this partnership marks yet another landmark breakthrough in the company’s efforts to deepen its presence in the overseas clean energy shipping market and continue to focus on high-end market segments. It further solidifies the company’s leading position in the global small- and medium-sized LNG bunkering vessel segment and continues to widen its competitive edge in the industry.
Looking at the current global shipping market, the transition to green and low-carbon operations has become an irreversible trend in the industry. As ports around the world continue to implement green shipping policies, the pace of retrofitting traditional fuel-powered vessels and replacing them with clean-energy vessels continues to accelerate, driving sustained explosive growth in global demand for LNG carriers and LNG bunkering vessels, and keeping the industry’s overall business sentiment at a high level.
So far this year, including the latest orders, CIMC SOE has secured orders for multiple LNG bunkering vessels, including four 20,000 m³ LNG bunkering vessels (one of which is an option), one 18,900 m³ LNG bunkering vessel, one 12,000 m³ LNG bunkering vessel, and one 6,000 m³ LNG bunkering vessel—for a total of seven vessels.
