On December 19, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), the intermediate holding company for HD Hyundai Group’s shipbuilding business, announced it had secured a KRW 689.6 billion (approximately US$466.2 million) order to build four container ships for an Oceania-based shipping company.
HD KSOE stated that these new vessels will be constructed at HD Hyundai Samho, with deliveries scheduled to commence in the second half of 2028. The newbuilds are expected to have a capacity of 8,000 to 9,000 TEU and will be owned by Greece’s Capital Group.
In addition to the latest orders, Capital has also signed contracts with HD Hyundai for six container ships exceeding 8,000 TEU, along with 19 feeder vessels of 2,800 TEU and 1,800 TEU.
With its latest orders, HD KSOE has secured contracts worth a total of $17.33 billion this year, involving 122 vessels, achieving 96% of its annual order target.
