On December 12, Jianglong Shipbuilding successfully signed a contract with Shenzhen Huazhou Ocean Development for a 40-meter, 60-passenger battery-powered workboat. This collaboration not only demonstrates Jianglong Shipbuilding’s technological prowess in the field of new energy vessels but also marks a crucial step forward in the green and intelligent upgrade of coastal transportation vessels in China.

This vessel, serving as a dual-function platform for transportation and research and development in the Yantian Port area, features a steel double-deck monohull design with a total length of 43.35 meters and a beam of 8.8 meters. It is equipped with a battery-powered dual-motor, dual-propeller, and dual-rudder system, achieving a maximum speed of no less than 12 knots and a cruising range of over 10 hours at a speed of 8-10 knots, meeting the requirements for coastal Class III navigation.
The vessel achieves zero emissions of carbon, sulfur, and other pollutants during operation, meeting the highest CCS Green Ship Class III standard. The vessel innovatively utilizes counter-rotating propeller technology, combined with a centralized air conditioning system and intelligent energy management system, to fully utilize surplus electricity from Yantian Port at night for charging, resulting in significant energy saving and emission reduction advantages.

Smart technology empowers the sailing experience. The vessel is equipped with the i-Ship (Nn) intelligent navigation system, integrating functions such as collision warning and autonomous route planning, enabling fully autonomous navigation and automated berthing and unberthing. The bridge features an integrated intelligent control system, complemented by all-around CCTV monitoring and ship-shore communication modules, ensuring navigational safety and operational efficiency.
This signing marks another milestone for Jianglong Shipbuilding in its deepening commitment to the new energy vessel market. Leveraging its extensive expertise in battery power system integration and intelligent vessel technology R&D, Jianglong Shipbuilding has emerged as a domestic leader in new energy vessels. The company has successfully developed vessels powered by various propulsion systems—including pure electric, diesel-electric, methanol, and hydrogen fuel cells—serving multiple sectors such as government enforcement, tourism and leisure, and specialized operations. It stands as one of China’s pioneers in industrializing new energy vessels.
