On December 2, China Ship Design & Research Center Co., Ltd. (CDSC) andPanjin Dajin Marine Engineering (Panjin Dajin) reached a significant cooperation agreement, formally signing a design contract for a 43,000 DWT high-end semi-submersible barge. This marks a key step in deepening their partnership following the framework agreement signed in April 2025, marking a new phase in their collaborative “R&D-Design-Construction” model for high-end marine engineering equipment.

The semi-submersible barge developed through this collaboration represents core equipment tailored by both parties for the global high-end offshore engineering market, featuring three key advantages: leading operational performance, robust structural design, and powerful system integration.
The semi-submersible vessel order signed this time comes from Norwegian shipowner Tronds Marine Service AS. On October 31, Dajin Heavy Industry announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Panjin Dajin has signed a contract to build one 43,000 DWT semi-submersible barge. The vessel will have an overall length of approximately 150 meters, a beam of 60 meters, a depth of 9.5 meters, and a maximum submerged draft of 32.5 meters. The total contract value is approximately 285 million yuan, with delivery scheduled for 2027.
This semi-submersible vessel order marks the first collaboration between Panjin Dajin and a European shipowner, signifying further international recognition of the company’s shipbuilding capabilities. In terms of vessel type, it represents a leap from deck barges to the more technically challenging semi-submersible barges. As the company’s inaugural construction of this vessel type, it is designed for heavy marine engineering transportation and installation applications, paving the way for expanded order opportunities in the global market.
Panjin Dajin, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dajin Heavy Industry, is located in Liaobin Coastal Economic and Technological Development Zone, Panjin City, Liaoning Province. Adjacent to Panjin Port and the Liaohe River estuary, it boasts excellent wharf and waterway conditions. Together with the group’s Tangshan and Penglai bases, it forms Dajin Heavy Industry’s three major marine engineering bases around the Bohai Sea, demonstrating significant advantages in capacity optimization and synergistic layout. Panjin Dajin’s main products include various deck transport vessels, semi-submersible vessels, heavy-lift vessels, floating docks, wind power operation and maintenance vessels, and wind power engineering vessels.
