On November 28, Chinese shipbuilder Sanfu Shipbuilding held a grand delivery and naming ceremony for a 3,500 TEU dual-fuel (LNG+MGO) container ship built for a U.S. owner. Representatives from the owner, DNV classification society, Hengfeng Bank, and Sanfu Shipbuilding attended the naming ceremony.

This series of 3,500 TEU dual-fuel container ships was designed by Germany’s HB HUNTE Design Company, featuring a forecastle design.
This vessel primarily uses high-pressure LNG (natural gas) and MGO (diesel) as fuel, employing vertical natural gas storage tanks that represent the largest vertical gas tanks ever installed on board to date. Capable of carrying over 1,000 refrigerated containers, it is equipped with a remote refrigeration monitoring system. The vessel’s Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) meets and exceeds current industry standards, delivering environmental performance that significantly surpasses its peers.

Sanfu Shipbuilding stated that the successful delivery of this series of vessels embodies the steadfast trust of the shipowner, the strong support of partners, and the dedicated efforts of all employees. Sanfu Shipbuilding will seize this opportunity to continuously increase R&D investment and fully advance the construction of the newly ordered 3,500 TEU dual-fuel container ships.
