On November 10, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) kicked off construction of the second 10,800 CEU LNG dual-fuel pure car and track carrier (PCTC) for Korea Ocean Business Corporation.

This vessel type was jointly developed by GSI and the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI). It has an overall length of 230 meters, a perpendicular distance of 225.5 meters, a beam of 40 meters, a depth of 15.6 meters, a design draft of 9.1 meters, a maximum draft of 10.5 meters and a speed of 19 knots.
Equipped with an LNG/fuel dual-fuel propulsion system, it reduces carbon emissions by over 30% compared to conventional fuel vessels and meets IMO Tier III NOx emission standards.
The PCTC features 14 car decks in total, comprising 9 fixed decks and 5 movable decks. Starboard-side stern and side doors facilitate loading of passenger cars, vans, trailers carrying freight containers, heavy-duty trucks, and other vehicle types. Additionally, the vessel can transport certain dangerous goods packaged in accordance with the IMDG Code.
It is understood that Korea Ocean Business Corporation has ordered two 10,800 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTCs from GSI, with the first vessel having commenced construction in June this year. Upon completion, both vessels will be operated by GLOVIS.
In recent years, leveraging its leading position in the construction of PCTCs, GSI has continuously expanded production capacity through lean management and technological innovation. The company has completed and delivered 22 PCTCs, including 11 vessels delivered in 2025.
