China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Sets New LNG Delivery Record

Following the delivery of the 174,000 cubic meter LNG carrier “Mihzem” on October 30, China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding delivered another LNG carrier “GreenEnergy Moon” on October 31. Thus, together with the 24,000 TEU container ship delivered on October 8, Hudong-Zhonghua has delivered a total of 4 large LNG carriers and 1 ultra-large container ship in a single month.

In particular, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding delivered four fifth-generation LNG carriers in a single month, setting a new record for Chinese shipbuilding and demonstrating the shipbuilder’s strong capabilities.

In the first ten months of this year, Hudong-Zhonghua has delivered eight LNG carriers, achieving its annual target two months ahead of schedule and exceeding the production capacity doubling plan set for the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Currently, the shipbuilder has an order book of over 50 vessels, with more than 20 under construction. This year’s total deliveries are expected to reach 11 vessels, once again setting a new domestic record for annual deliveries.

Throughout October, Hudong-Zhonghua delivered five vessels and completed 15 major production milestones. Behind this record-breaking achievement lies the combined power of lean management and digital construction.

Through refined work assignment and the application of new processes and construction methods, Hudong-Zhonghua has not only boosted shipbuilding efficiency but also driven the development of over 130 domestic supporting enterprises. This has formed an industrial chain with hundreds of billions in output value, significantly increasing the domestic production rate of entire vessels. As a result, China’s LNG carriers have truly transitioned from “following” to “leading” the industry.
