Recently, the bidding results for the construction project of two 210,000 DWT Newcastlemax bulk carriers launched by China Huarong Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. have been officially announced: Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding has successfully secured the contract with a bid price of $142 million.

According to the tender announcement, the shipbuilding project will be funded by the company itself, and upon completion, the vessels will be delivered directly to downstream shipping companies for bareboat chartering. Delivery is expected to take place before December 31, 2030.
Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding will be responsible for all work including design, construction, final assembly and commissioning, mooring tests, sea trials, etc., until the vessel passes statutory inspection and obtains the China Classification Society (CCS) classification certificate. The vessels will be delivered to the tenderer under a turnkey project delivery method.
Vessel acceptance shall be contingent upon obtaining the CCS certificate, with delivery completed directly by the shipyard to the lessee designated by the tenderer. Concurrently, the shipyard shall assist the tenderer in completing vessel registration procedures at the designated maritime authority. Specific requirements are detailed in Chapter 5, “Procurement Requirements”.
If the contract for the above two 210,000 DWT Newcastlemax bulk carriers is formally signed, it will be the first time that Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding has undertaken this type of vessel.
Since the beginning of this year, Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding has received multiple orders of new vessels, including two 3,300TEU container ships (Fujian Lida Group and Hong Kong Quantong Group), four 63,000-ton general cargo ships (Hong Kong King ship), two 13,000 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers and two 13,800 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers (all from Xingtong Shipping).
