China’s GSI Delivers Dual LNG-Fueled Car Carriers, Beating 2025 Schedule by Two Months

On October 22, Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, completed the delivery of the second 8,600 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC for South Korea’s HMM Shipping Company and the second 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC for Guangzhou Yuanhai Automobile Shipping. This milestone signifies that GSI has completed its 2025 ship and marine product delivery tasks two months ahead of schedule.

The 8600 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC is equipped with an advanced intelligent ship system, enabling intelligent management of navigation, engine room and cargo systems, effectively improving operational efficiency and safety. Furthermore, the PCTC incorporates a number of energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies, such as hull line optimization, propeller fairings, and an exhaust heat recovery system for the main engine, further reducing energy consumption and emissions.

The 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC incorporates multi-layered fire compartments, explosion-proof ventilation systems, and fire prevention technologies to establish comprehensive safety barriers for new energy sources like hydrogen fuel and lithium batteries within its transport structure. Additionally, it features a distributed solar photovoltaic power generation system that continuously converts solar energy into electricity, providing stable and reliable power supplementation for the vessel. This effectively enhances the diversity and stability of the vessel’s energy utilization.

In recent years, GSI has driven product structure upgrades through technological innovation, establishing a “three-excellence” fleet comprising liquid carriers, container ships, and Ro-Ro vessels that excel in brand reputation, cost efficiency, and operational performance. Concurrently, GSI has cultivated a specialized international brand portfolio centered on “three-specialty” vessels—high-end RoPax vessels, semi-submersibles, and polar vessels—by focusing on niche markets, aligning with market demands, and nurturing champions in specific sectors. This strategy has enabled continuous enhancement of market competitiveness.

GSI will continue to focus on the direction of “high-end, intelligent and green”, continue to deepen its presence in the green ship market, and contribute the power of “Made in China” to the low-carbon transformation of the global shipping industry with better products and services.
