On October 21, China’s Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. (Nantong Xiangyu SOE) successfully signed two contracts for four bulk carriers with South Korea’s Sammok Shipping Co., Ltd. (SMS) and Shanghai Changjiang Shipping Co., Ltd. (Changhang Shanghai).

That morning, Qin Weimin, Party Secretary and General Manager of Nantong Xiangyu SOE, and Mr. You Jinsu, Director of SMS, signed a contract for the construction of two 63,800 DWT bulk carriers. This collaboration marks the first collaboration between Nantong Xiangyu SOE and SMS, further recognizing the shipbuilder’s superior construction capabilities in the international market.
The 63,800 DWT bulk carrier, through continuous optimization and upgrades, has become a star product among medium-sized bulk carriers in the global shipping market. It offers outstanding economic efficiency, environmental performance, flexibility, and adaptability, meeting current stringent environmental regulations.
To date, this vessel type has received a total of 133 orders, with 86 vessels delivered. As a mature mass-produced vessel of Nantong Xiangyu SOE, the 63,800 DWT bulk carrier integrates the company’s extensive construction experience and high-quality craftsmanship standards, ensuring reliability and low maintenance costs throughout the vessel’s entire lifecycle.

Nantong Xiangyu SOE Signs Contract with Changhang Shanghai for Two 82,000 DWT Bulk Carriers
On the same day, Qin Weimin signed a contract with Wang Mingsheng, General Manager of Changhang Shanghai, for the design and construction of two 82,000 DWT bulk carriers.
The 82,000 DWT bulk carrier contracted this time deeply integrates modern, intelligent and green environmental protection concepts in its design. It not only has excellent load-carrying performance and economy, but also excels in maneuverability, fuel efficiency, and emission reduction. The vessel is equipped with advanced technologies such as an intelligent energy efficiency system and a shore power system.
