Greek Newcomer Venergy Orders Four MR Product Tankers in $192 Million Deal with South Korea’s K Shipbuilding

Greek tanker owner newcomer Venergy Maritime has exercised options for two MR product tankers with South Korea’s mid-sized shipbuilder K Shipbuilding.

According to fleet data on Venergy Maritime’s official website, the company’s order for 50,000 DWT MR product tankers at K Shipbuilding has increased to four vessels. Reports indicate that two of these are option vessels under a shipbuilding contract signed earlier this year, which recently became effective.

Each tanker is valued at approximately $48 million, with the four new vessels totaling around $192 million. Delivery is scheduled for the first to second quarter of 2027, and the new buildings will be named “Erietta,” “Filippos,” “Paris,” and “Marianna,” respectively.

It is understood that Venergy Maritime, established in 2021, is a privately owned shipping company headquartered in the Port of Piraeus, Greece.

As a newcomer to the tanker industry, Venergy Maritime has rapidly built a modern fleet. In April this year, it acquired two 2018-built MR product tankers, the “Captain Nikos” and “Captain Leon,” from Italian shipowner Premuda for approximately $75 million, drawing significant attention in the second-hand ship market.

With the advancement of its newbuilding program, Venergy Maritime’s fleet will expand to six environmentally friendly and efficient product tankers, with an average fleet age of less than four years.
