Huanghai Shipbuilding wins order for 1 RoPax ship

Recently, Huanghai Shipbuilding has received multiple orders, including letters of intent, with one Ro-Ro Passenger Ship (RoPax ship) and 8+4 container ships already publicly announced.

Recently, Jiangsu Lianyungang Port Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Lianyungang” or “the Company”) issued the “Announcement on the Investment in Ship Construction by Yungang Ferry (Tianjin) Ship Leasing Co., Ltd., a Wholly-Owned Subsidiary of the Controlling Subsidiary”.

The announcement disclosed that Yungang Ferry (Tianjin) Ship Leasing, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, invested RMB 548.8 million (approximately US$76 million) in ship construction and signed a ship construction contract with Huanghai Shipbuilding.

On August 8, Yungang Ferry (Tianjin) Ship Leasing signed a contract with Huanghai Shipbuilding for the construction of a 950-passenger, 2,700-meter lane RoPax ship. It’ll take 32 months to build the ship, with delivery expected on or before April 8, 2028.

According to the announcement, Jiangsu Lianyungang Port’s subsidiary, Lianyungang C-K Ferry Co., Ltd., which operates the Lianyungang-Pyeongtaek route, has reached the end of its service life due to the aging ship. To ensure normal operations, a new ship is required. Huanghai Shipbuilding was selected as the successful bidder through an open tender process to construct the ship.

Recently, Huanghai Shipbuilding has won several new orders in the container ship market, including four 2,700TEU container ships from SITC International, an intention order for 2+2 1,800TEU container ships from W Marine, and an intention order for 2+2 1,800TEU container ships from Minerva Marine.

Huanghai Shipbuilding was founded in 1944. In recent years, the company has focused on structural adjustment and product transformation, forming a development path with Huanghai characteristics in the fields of ro-pax vessel and passenger-cargo ferries, multi-purpose heavy lift vessels, and large ocean-going fishing vessels.
