Hengli Heavy Industries’ 300,000-Ton Wharfs 5 & 6 Completed Ahead of Schedule

According to the news from the Second Company of CCCC Third Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., recently, the main structure of the No. 5 and No. 6 outfitting wharf projects of Hengli Heavy Industries in Dalian, has been fully completed 5 days ahead of schedule, laying a solid foundation for the project to be delivered on schedule.

Located in Dalian’s Changxing Island Lingang Industrial Zone, the project will construct two new 300,000-ton outfitting berths, approximately one kilometer in length. Following the April commissioning of Wharf 7, Wharfs 5 and 6 will create synergies with the existing terminals upon completion, significantly enhancing regional product transshipment capacity.

Pile driving was a key control point for the project. Under complex geological conditions characterized by rapid land formation and the interlaced distribution of riprap backfill areas and soft soil foundations, the team overcame numerous underground obstacles and employed rotary drilling in the thick rockfill sections, successfully addressing the challenges of pile quality. By optimizing construction organization and operating six pile drivers simultaneously during peak hours, they ultimately completed all 1,096 pile foundations eight days ahead of schedule.

The full completion of Wharfs 5 and 6 will work together with Wharf 7, which was put into operation in April this year, to form a modern port cluster, which can accommodate two 300,000-ton ships, one 30,000-ton ship and two 5,000-ton ships in simultaneous operation, and is expected to increase annual throughput by 5 million tons.

As an important supporting project for the Hengli Petrochemical Industrial Park, the completion of this project will help Dalian build a first-class shipbuilding and offshore engineering equipment manufacturing base that is high-end, intelligent, and green. It will also promote the continuous expansion of the industrial chain upstream and downstream, accelerate the construction of Liaoning Province as a strong marine economy province, and inject strong momentum into the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China in the new era.
