Chuandong Shipbuilding Delivers 11,500 DWT Stainless Steel Chemical Tanker to COSCO Shipping

On July 17, 2025, Chongqing Chuandong Shipbuilding Industuy (Chuandong Shipbuilding), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, signed a delivery contract for the 11,500 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker “Jinhai Cheng” built for COSCO Shipping in Shanghai.

The ship is 119.9 meters long, 20.8 meters wide, with a deadweight tonnage of 11,500 tons. It is classed by CCS and flies the Chinese flag. Powered by a single medium-speed diesel engine with a single propeller, this ship is a Type II chemical tanker suitable for international voyages, allowing for the simultaneous loading and unloading of eight different types of chemicals.

“Jinhai Cheng” is another new ship jointly built by Chuandong Shipbuilding and COSCO SHIPPING after the 13,800 DWT, 8,000 DWT and 6,300 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers. During the construction process, Chuandong Shipbuilding made great efforts to overcome many difficulties, vigorously promoted new processes and methods, improved the ship block construction process, increased the pre-outfitting rate of sections, reduced the damage of section paint, and further improved the construction quality and speed.
