Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Commences Construction of Sixth 174,000 cbm LNG Carrier for CNOOC Phase II Project

On May 28, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. kicked off construction of the H1891A, the sixth 174,000 cbm LNG carrier for CNOOC’s Phase II project, marking the second vessel commencement in this project during May.

This LNG carrier is the fifth-generation “Changheng” series 174,000 cubic meter large LNG carrier independently developed and designed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding. It has a total length of 299 meters, a beam of 46.4 meters, a depth of 26.25 meters, and is equipped with a number of low-carbon and energy-saving technologies.

The vessel has the characteristics of low comprehensive energy consumption, good low-temperature performance, strong cargo capacity, and smart operation and maintenance. Its carbon emissions can be reduced by more than 10 tons per day, and it can reach 120 LNG shore stations on all continents around the world. It has excellent global navigability and is well received by users.

Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding expressed that it will be oriented to lean management, focusing on efficiency improvement and meeting customers’ needs, and will earnestly do a good job in all aspects of the production chain based on fully absorbing the experience of series vessel construction.
