MBEC Receives First Dual-Compliant 1,300-ton Revolving Derrick Barge with Smart Systems

On May 28, China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (MBEC) took delivery of the 1,300-ton revolving derrick barge “Tiejian Daqiaoqi 2”. It is reported that the vessel is the first revolving derrick barge in China that takes into account both seagoing vessel regulations and the height limit of the Changjiang River. After delivery, it will help the construction of Qinglongmen Bridge in Zhoushan Port, Zhejiang Province.

“Tiejian Daqiaoqi 2” is a non-self-propelled crane vessel with a total design length of 130 meters, a beam of 37.2 meters, and a depth of 8.8 meters. It has a unique boom-lowering system and a navigation height of 24 meters. As the first revolving derrick barge in China that takes into account both seagoing vessel regulations and the height limit of the Changjiang River, “Tiejian Daqiaoqi 2” is equipped with load adjustment system and anti-heeling system, realizing the innovative application of intelligent engineering ships.

Meanwhile, “Tiejian Daqiaoqi 2” has also completed the integration and optimization of the 1,000-tonne positioning system, which further enhances operational efficiency and safety. These technological innovations will add strong impetus to the competitiveness of China Railway Construction Bridge Bureau in the global bridge construction field.

It is reported that the 1,300-ton revolving derrick barge “Tiejian Daqiaoqi 2” is a key step for MBEC to strengthen its independent and controllable capabilities in core equipment and expand its high-end bridge construction territory.

So far, MBEC has a powerful fleet of “eight types and nine vessels”, and another world’s tallest (156-meter pile frame) piling vessel is under construction. The successful delivery of “Tiejian Daqiaoqi 2” will further consolidate and give play to the brand advantages of MBEC and promote the in-depth development of its bridge construction industry chain.
