COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Guangdong) Breaks Ground For the Second 7999DWT Methanol Bunkering Vessel

On May 28, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Guangdong) officially kicked off the construction of the 7999DWT methanol bunkering vessel No. 2. This is the second methanol bunkering vessel started by the shipyard after the first vessel was started in March.

The parameters of the second 7999DWT methanol bunkering vessel are consistent with those of the first vessel. The vessel has a total length of 114.9 meters, a beam of 19 meters, a depth of 10 meters, a designed draft of 7.2 meters and is classed by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK).

The vessel is equipped with twin engines and twin propellers, a bow thruster, a bulbous bow and a vertical square stern, and a continuous freeboard deck. Among them, the total volume of the cargo hold area is about 9,000 cubic meters, with a designed cargo capacity of 7,999 deadweight tons. The cargo hold adopts a special coating, which is suitable for loading diesel, gasoline, biodiesel, methanol, etc.

The system has many excellent characteristics such as high efficiency, energy saving and green environmental protection. The cargo hold adopts a double-hull design, equipped with a nitrogen system and a high-speed ventilation system.

It is understood that the consecutive construction of two 7999DWT methanol bunkering vessels is an efficient transformation of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Guangdong)’s experience in building the first vessel, and marks the company’s further improvement in technology and construction capabilities in the field of small and medium-sized new energy vessels.
