Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Commences Construction of Two New Vessels and Completes Sea Trial of Aframax Product Tanker

On May 16, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding successfully kicked off the construction of H1609, a 9,000 CEU PCTC (pure car and track carrier) for GRIMALDI Company, and H1630, a 7,000 TEU container ship for T.S.LINES. On the same day, H1588, a 114,000 DWT Aframax product tanker built by the company for Thenamaris Company, had returned triumphantly from its sea trials.

Classed by RINA, the H1609 vessel has an overall length of 199.90 meters, a beam of 38.0 meters, a depth of 14.8 meters, a design draft of 9.2 meters and a design speed of 19.0 knots.
It is equipped with MAN B&W 7S60MEC10.6-HPSCR main engine, which meets Tier II/III specification.

Classed by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK), H1630 has an overall length of 272.00 meters, a beam of 42.8 meters, a depth of 24.6 meters, a design draught of 13.0 meters, a design speed of 21.0 knots. The vessel is powered by a MAN 7G80ME-C10.5, which meets the Tier III specification.

The 114,000 DWT Aframax product tanker H1588, built by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for Greece’s Thenamaris Company, successfully completed its sea trial and berthed at the company’s wharf.

H1588 is the last vessel of Thenamaris series 114,000 DWT Aframax product tanker. During the sea trial, all the sea trial personnel made steady progress according to the sea trial plan, successfully completed all the projects in the sea trial outline, and all the test indexes met the technical requirements.
