On May 13, New Yangzi Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, delivered the 50,000DWT MR tanker “INITIATOR” to shipowner Evalend, marking its entry into service.
It is understood that “INITIATOR” is the fifth in a series of six MR tankers. The vessel has an overall length of 183.0 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters, a depth of 19.1 meters and a designed draft of 11.0 meters. Equipped with an open U-type desulfurization tower, its EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) meets the PHASE III standards, and it is classified by Lloyd’s Register (LR).
The “INITIATOR” commenced construction in mid-May 2024, was laid keel for assembly in mid-November, launched in late January 2025, and completed sea trials on April 21 which all test results met the design standards.
