COOEC Completes First Shipment of Critical Subsea Structures for Qatar’s ISND5-2 Offshore Project

The first batch of steel sleepers (subsea pipeline support structures) for Qatar’s ISND5-2 project was recently loaded and shipped from Offshore Oil Engineering Company’s (hereinafter referred to as the “COOEC”) Qingdao site, marking the successful prefabrication and overseas delivery of the project’s first batch of large domestic structures.

The Qatar ISND5-2 project is located 80 kilometers east of the Qatar Peninsula in the Persian Gulf, with a maximum water depth of about 35 meters. The scope of the project includes the design, procurement, construction, transportation, installation, commissioning of three wellhead platforms weighing about 1,300 tons, nine subsea pipelines, five umbilical cables, and three underwater skids, as well as the transformation of in-service platform facilities.

This batch of steel sleepers is an important supporting structure for long-distance subsea pipelines. There are 35 sets in total, with a total weight of more than 800 tons. The longest is 31 meters and the shortest is 12 meters. In addition, this batch of shipped materials also includes underwater structures such as pipe clamps, riser protection frames, and J-tubes.

At present, the project’s domestic construction work, overseas underwater operations and various preparatory work for maintenance and renovation are being accelerated. The prefabrication of the second batch of 53 sets of steel sleepers and other underwater structures is being carried out intensively and orderly.
