Dynacom Tankers Management orders two Suezmax tankers from New Times Shipbuilding

After MSC and Seaspan, Dynacom Tankers Management, a tanker owner under the Greek shipowner George Procopiou, has become the next international shipowner to return to China’s shipbuilders, casting a vote of confidence in China’s shipbuilding industry.

According to TradeWinds, Dynacom Tankers has returned to New Times Shipbuilding to order new vessels. New Times Shipbuilding will build two 159,000 dwt Suezmax tankers for it, which are expected to be delivered in 2028. Sources said that the shipbuilding negotiations between the two parties were initiated several months ago and the formal contract was finalized recently.

As a leader in the field of tanker construction, New Times Shipbuilding has become one of the preferred shipbuilders for Dynacom Tankers. Including the two new vessels recently announced, Dynacom Tankers has ordered 24 new ships from New Times Shipbuilding since 2023, including 12 Suezmax tankers, 6 75,000 DWT product tankers, 2 LR2 product tankers and 4 very large crude carriers (VLCCs).

It is understood that the shipbuilding contract of Dynacom Tankers is the second new vessel order announced by New Times Shipbuilding this year. In January, Greek shipping company Pleiades Shipping signed an order for two 73,500 DWT crude oil tankers/product tankers from New Times Shipbuilding, which are scheduled to be delivered between 2027 and 2028.

Clarkson data shows that in 2024, New Times Shipbuilding received orders for 106 vessels and 4.63 million compensated gross tonnage(CGT), ranking first among all single shipyards (not shipbuilding groups) in the world in terms of CGTs.

New Times Shipbuilding has 500,000-ton, 300,000-ton and 100,000-ton dry docks, and its main products are large and medium-sized bulk carriers, tankers, container ships and various chemical tankers. With the increase of orders, New Times Shipbuilding is investing 5 billion yuan to expand production capacity, the new project covers an area of 900 mu, will be a new 700-meter-long shipyard, will have four dry docks after completion.
