Recently, China Classification Society (CCS) Dalian Branch issued China’s first certificate of “longitudinal variable thickness steel plate for hull structure” factory approval to Angang Steel.
Angang Steel’s Longitudinal Variable Thickness Steel Plate (LP Steel Plate) has a special rolling and controlled cooling process that allows the two ends of a steel plate to have different thicknesses while maintaining uniform and stable performance.
Compared with the welding method to fulfill the transition of different thickness sections in steel plate structure, LP steel plate performance is more uniform along the longitudinal, not only can reduce the weld, improve the shipbuilding efficiency, but also because of the linear matching of its structural load, reduce the weight of the structure, is an effective choice for ship lightweight.
As an energy-saving and green steel product, the research, development and application of LP steel plate is of great significance in promoting the green, low-carbon and high-quality development of China’s shipbuilding industry.
