Recently, Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, kicked off two shipbuilding projects in succession within 48 hours, and one ship was launched. It has completed the production milestones of the projects efficiently and is charging toward new heights.
On July 31, Guangzhou Shipyard International held a double milestone ceremony for Singapore EPS’s two 111,000 DWT LNG dual-fuel tanker projects: Ship No. 2 officially entered the dock for construction, and Ship No. 4 was simultaneously ignited and put into construction.
On July 31, Guangzhou Shipyard International held a dual-milestone ceremony for the two 111,000 DWT LNG dual-fuel oil tankers being built for Singapore’s Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS). The No. 2 vessel officially launched, while the No. 4 vessel kicked off construction with a keel laying.
The eight LRII dual-fuel tankers in this series are designed to operate on both fuel oil and LNG. They are 250 meters in length, 44 meters in beam and have a deadweight of 111,000 tons. They meet IMO Tier III emission standards and Phase 3 energy efficiency requirements.
By optimizing the hull lines and energy management system, the project achieved a 15% reduction in energy consumption at a speed of 14.5 knots. The intelligent navigation system monitors 2,000 ship data points in real time. The shipowner’s representative, a China Classification Society surveyor, and the GSI project team jointly signed documents on key construction milestones.
On July 30th, GSI held a steel cutting ceremony at its Zhongshan facility for a 36-meter floating pontoon project, built for the Nansha Branch of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau. This project is a key initiative to improve water safety infrastructure and enhance emergency response capabilities in Nansha District. It is of great significance in protecting public life and property and serving local economic development. Upon completion, it will become a crucial component in ensuring urban security in Nansha District.
It is reported that the commencement of construction of the 30-meter steel pontoon is an active attempt by GSI to build ships and speedboats less than 45 meters in length in the fully enclosed workshop of its elevator company. It will accumulate construction experience for the company to subsequently undertake high-performance high-speed boats and will further enrich GSI’s ship product portfolio.
As the green development of the shipping industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area accelerates, GSI is promoting the upgrading of shipbuilding towards high-end, intelligent, and greener development through technological innovation. The simultaneous advancement of these three key projects signifies the continued strengthening of GSI’s competitiveness in the high-value-added shipbuilding market.
