The world’s first two river-sea direct electric container ship were named

On December 28, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) Co., Ltd. named two 700TEU electric container vessels N997 and N998 which were built for COSCO Shipping Development.  “Zhongyuan Haiyun Lvshui 01” and “Zhongyuan Haiyun Lvshui 02″are the world’s first electric container ships for River-Sea Direct Service.

It is reported that this type of ship is independently researched, designed and built by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry with independent intellectual property rights. Besides, it is also the largest tonnage electric ship project under construction in China and the first batch of green zero-carbon pilot ship type.

With an overall length of 119.8 meters and a beam of 23.6 meters, the vessel is equipped with 36 replaceable marine containerized batteries as the power source, which is equivalent to the load capacity of more than 800 new energy vehicles. The capacity of the ship’s battery is the largest in the world, and it is renewed through the box-type mobile power supply for power exchange. The preset battery capacity of this ship is much higher than the existing international/domestic ship types, and it leads the world in terms of the number of boxes loaded, deadweight tonnage and battery capacity of pure electric container ships.

It is understood that ” Zhongyuan Haiyun Lvshui 01 ” will start its maiden voyage in mid- to late-January 2024, and will operate on the “Nanjing-Yangshan” route.
