On June 19, the CPP platform for Qatar NOC RUYAEPCIC 13 project broke ground at COOEC Engineering’s Qingdao site, marking the official start of the construction phase.
The Ruya project is located in Qatar’s offshore AI-Shaheen oil field, one of the world’s largest carbonate oil fields and Qatar’s largest oil field, located approximately 70 kilometers northeast of Ras Laffan.
It is understood that the Ruya project is an independent project undertaken by COOEC Qingdao Company. The project owner is Qatar North Oil Company, South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries and MCDERMOTT, which jointly won the bid for the EPCIC work of the CPP platform of the RUYA project package 13. The overall weight of the module is about 30,000 tons. COOEC Qingdao Company is responsible for the onshore construction, ship loading and sea transportation of some pipelines and electrical instruments of 46 structural units (including LSF).
The Ruya project is faced with the management challenge of numerous interface crossings between prefabrication of the same deck and the construction of Hyundai Heavy Industries. Meanwhile, the owner’s structural welding material selection conditions impose strict requirements on preheating during the welding process and post-welding NDT inspection.
The project team will develop detailed and thorough project plans and quality management programs through management pre-positioning and risk prediction, and promote the high-standard development of the Ruya project through strong organizational management.
