On October 8, 2026, Wison New Energies (“Wison”) held the Steel Cutting Ceremony for the UOG 319,000 DWT Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) Project at its Nantong fabrication yard, officially commencing construction of the No.1 and No.2 vessels. This milestone marks the project’s transition into physical construction and represents an important step in applying Wison’s proven experience in complex offshore projects to the commercial shipbuilding sector.

In May 2026, Wison signed a contract with United Overseas Group Ltd. (“UOG”) for six firm VLCCs, with options for four additional vessels. The VLCC has a deadweight capacity of 319,000 DWT, with a length of approximately 332.9 metres and a breadth of 60 metres. The vessels will feature optimized hull forms, advanced propulsion integration, and energy-saving technologies designed to enhance efficiency while meeting current and anticipated IMO environmental standards.
Mr. Zhang Wenlu, SVP of Wison New Energies, commented: “From contract signing to the commencement of construction, our shared vision is now taking shape. This marks an important step forward in our partnership with UOG and demonstrates how Wison’s engineering expertise, construction management, and project execution experience, developed through complex offshore projects such as FLNG and FPSO, can be applied across a broader range of projects. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with UOG and leveraging our established engineering systems and proven delivery capabilities to create long-term value for customers worldwide.”
Moving forward, Wison will continue to work closely with UOG, with a strong focus on safety and quality, to ensure the successful delivery of modern, high-quality VLCCs that support efficient and reliable global energy transportation.
