On September 10, the Ocean Energy Support Vessel (OESV) C513, built by the Spanish shipyard GONDAN for the Norwegian shipowner Østensjø Rederi, was launched in Figueres. This is the 23rd vessel built under the partnership between the two parties and the largest vessel ever built by the shipyard.
The vessel will now undergo final outfitting and sea trials, with delivery scheduled for the end of 2027.
Designed by Norway’s Salt Ship Design, the vessel measures 120 meters in length and 23 meters in width. It is classed by DNV, features a 1,400-square-meter open deck (including the hangar), and has a maximum capacity of 173 persons.
The vessel utilizes a diesel-electric propulsion system powered by six variable-speed engines and Brunvoll PM azimuth thrusters. It also incorporates advanced decarbonization solutions—such as battery systems, shore power capabilities, and “fuel-ready” class notation—enabling future adaptation to clean fuels like methanol.
Additionally, the vessel is equipped with a Walk-to-Work (W2W) system, supporting CSOV wind farm operations, offshore construction, subsea equipment installation, ROV inspections, and subsea cable laying and repair.
It is reported that GONDAN has collaborated with Østensjø Rederi for over 20 years.
