On July 26, Hubei Haike Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd., Hubei Ruiyu Logistics Co., Ltd., and Wuhan Innovation River-Sea Transportation Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony for a new vessel construction project. The project covers 15,000 DWT methanol-only fuelled river-sea direct cargo bulk carriers. This marks that the construction of this type of green and intelligent vessels has officially entered the substantive construction phase.

This methanol-fueled vessel, capable of direct river-to-sea navigation, was independently developed by Wuhan Innovation River-Sea Transportation. Upon entering service, it will operate on the Yichang–Chongqing–Luzhou (Yibin) route in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, serving as a key model for low-carbon shipping development along the Yangtze main line.
Leveraging a collaborative model that integrates shipbuilding and shipping operations, the project aims to establish a benchmark for green transport in the upper Yangtze region and drive the transformation of Yidu’s shipbuilding industry toward low-carbon and intelligent operations.
Hubei Haike Shipbuilding was established in October 2024 and signed a contract to settle in Yidu Green Intelligent Ship Industrial Park in September 2025. The project has a total investment of 2 billion yuan and plans to produce 25 10,000-ton ships annually. In April 2026, Haike Shipbuilding achieved “signing before production” and successfully signed orders for 8 vessels with a sales amount of 800 million yuan.
It is worth noting that the launch of this 15,000-ton methanol dual-fuel bulk carrier project—designed for direct river-to-sea navigation—marks the official entry of the Hubei Haike Green and Intelligent Ship Base into the substantive construction phase. The company has thus embarked on a new strategic path focused on developing new-energy river-sea vessels and establishing a footprint in green shipping equipment manufacturing, while also injecting strong momentum into the transformation of Yidu’s shipbuilding industry toward low-carbon and intelligent operations.
