On May 6, Hengli Heavy Industries held a grand naming and delivery ceremony for an 82,000 DWT bulk carrier. The new vessel was named “MARATHON,” marking the third ship christened within two days at Hengli Heavy Industries. On May 5, Hengli Heavy Industries christened two 82,000 DWT bulk carriers built for Dynacom. The new vessels were named “OTHONOI” and “ZAKYNTHOS,” respectively.

The 82,000 DWT bulk carrier is one of Hengli Heavy Industries’ standardized, routine, and conventional ship designs. Its performance and economic indicators—including cargo capacity, speed, and fuel consumption—are all at the leading international level, making it the latest generation of ships compliant with EEDI Phase 3.

This vessel is the first ship built by Hengli Heavy Industries for Greece’s Efnav. As an internationally renowned shipowner, Efnav wields significant influence in the global shipping industry. From the initial partnership between the two companies last October to the naming and delivery of the first vessel, the process took only seven months, demonstrating Hengli Heavy Industries’ exceptional construction efficiency and delivery capabilities.
