COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Starts Construction of Second 9,000m³ Ethylene Carrier

Recently, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) officially kicked off construction of the second 9,000m³ multi-purpose ethylene carrier, built for Dalian COSCO Shipping Energy Supply Chain Co., Ltd..

As a sister vessel to the Xingshengyuan, the first vessel of the same type built for Dalian COSCO Shipping Energy Supply Chain Co., Ltd., the newbuild fully inherits the core design concepts of green development, low carbon and intelligence, with comprehensive upgrades in navigation performance and environmental protection indicators.

According to COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian), the vessel is equipped with an advanced dual-fuel propulsion system and C-Type independent liquid cargo tanks, enabling it to safely and efficiently transport liquefied gases such as ethylene. It is capable of operating on a variety of fuel types, including heavy fuel oil (HFO), marine gasoil (MGO), and liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The vessel’s main engines and generator sets are all equipped with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems, and their emissions meet the International Maritime Organization’s NOx Tier III standards, offering a combination of cargo-carrying capacity, cost-effectiveness, reliability, and energy-saving and environmental benefits.
