CIMC SOE Starts Construction and Lays Keel for Dual 20,000 m³ LNG Bunkering Carriers

Recently, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC SOE) reached a major milestone in the construction of two 20,000 m³ LNG bunkering carriers of the same class.

On April 15, CIMC SOE held a ground-breaking ceremony for the 20,000m³ LNG bunkering carrier it is building for Equatorial Marine Fuel Management Services (hereinafter referred to as “EMF”).

As Singapore’s leading marine fuel supplier, EMF operates a fleet of approximately 30 tankers and specializes in the supply of low-carbon and zero-carbon marine fuels such as LNG and methanol. The company has been recognized as Singapore’s top-selling fuel supplier for two consecutive years.

The 20,000m³ LNG bunkering carrier, whose construction has now commenced, serves as a benchmark for the next generation of green vessels. With a total length of 160 meters and a beam of 25 meters, it is designed to reach a speed of 15.5 knots and features multipurpose capabilities including storage, transportation, and ship-to-ship bunkering.

On April 17, CIMC SOE successfully completed the keel laying milestone for the 20,000m³ LNG bunkering carrier being built for Somtralux SA.

It is reported that this vessel is equipped with the latest WINGD dual-fuel main engine and an Intelligent Exhaust Gas Recirculation (iCER) system. Whether operating on conventional fuel or LNG, it meets IMO Tier III emission standards, reduces fuel and gas consumption by 2%–3%, and significantly cuts methane slip and greenhouse gas emissions. The cargo containment system has been optimized to achieve a lower evaporation rate than comparable vessels in the market, effectively lowering operating costs; The vessel is equipped with a high-voltage shore power interface, enabling zero-carbon emissions while in port, thereby comprehensively addressing the stringent environmental requirements of the global shipping industry.
