On September 3, Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC) held a groundbreaking ceremony at Zhenhua Offshore Engineering for the 4,500 cbm trailing suction hopper dredger project it is building for CCCC Guangzhou Dredging Bureau.
The vessel has an overall length of approximately 103.0 meters, a beam of 21.8 meters, a draft of 7.2 meters, and a dredging draft of approximately 6.2 meters. Its mud tanks have a maximum capacity of 4,500 cubic meters and a load capacity of approximately 6,630 tons. It is capable of operating in all navigation zones and can be used for a variety of operations, including dredging at domestic and international coastal ports and waterways, land reclamation, and coastal maintenance.
In terms of propulsion, the vessel is equipped with an advanced, environmentally friendly emission control system, reflecting the direction of green, low-carbon, and energy-efficient technology. It is also outfitted with advanced intelligent systems, including shipwide navigation and communication equipment and radio systems, and its operational efficiency and maneuverability meet the highest domestic standards.
The construction of this vessel represents a key initiative by CCCC Guangzhou Dredging Bureau to implement national strategies, optimize its fleet structure, and address shortcomings in dredging capabilities; it is also a concrete step toward realizing the concept of green and intelligent equipment. It marks another landmark high-end offshore engineering asset developed by ZPMC following the successful delivery of the “Jun Guang.”
Upon completion and delivery, the vessel will significantly enhance China’s dredging engineering capabilities, provide robust support for coastal port and waterway construction, marine ecological conservation, and major national projects, and play a vital role in the “Belt and Road” Initiative and global dredging market competition.
