Fincantieri Reports 2025 Financial Results

Fincantieri, one of the world’s largest shipbuilding groups based in Italy, has officially released its “2025 Financial Results.” Both the value of new orders and net profit reached record highs during the reporting period, indicating that the group’s profitability has further strengthened since returning to profitability in 2024.

On March 25, Fincantieri released its 2025 annual results via its official website. In 2025, Fincantieri’s total order backlog reached €63.2 billion (about ¥503.2 billion), with delivery schedules extending through 2036 and 24 vessels scheduled for delivery during the year.

Data shows that as of December 31, 2025, Fincantieri achieved operating revenue of €9.194 billion (about ¥73.2 billion), a 13.1% increase year-over-year (from €8.128 billion). Net profit reached €117 million (about ¥930 million), surging more than fourfold year-over-year (from €27 million) to a record high. Adjusted net profit, excluding non-recurring and extraordinary items, was 143 million euros (about ¥1.14 billion), surging approximately 2.5 times year-over-year (from €57 million). EBITDA was €681 million, up 33.9% year-over-year (from €509 million), the EBITDA margin was 7.4%, a significant improvement from the previous year’s 6.3%.

During the reporting period in 2025, Fincantieri secured a total of 28 new ship orders valued at €20.331 billion (about ¥161.88 billion), a 32.4% increase year-over-year (from €15.355 billion), once again breaking the Group’s annual order intake record.

As of December 31, 2025, Fincantieri held a backlog of 97 vessels, with total project orders amounting to €63.2 billion—equivalent to 6.9 times its 2025 revenue—marking a further increase from the previous year (€51.2 billion) and setting a new record. This includes €41.1 billion (about ¥327.24 billion) in confirmed orders and €22.1 billion (about ¥175.96 billion) in letters of intent. The order book provides visibility through 2036, with confirmed orders and the order backlog guaranteeing approximately 4.5 and 6.9 years of work, respectively.

By business segment, Fincantieri’s shipbuilding operations generated revenue of €6.592 billion (about ¥52.49 billion) in 2025, representing a year-over-year increase of 15.1%: revenue from the cruise ship segment was €4.404 billion, revenue from the naval vessel segment was €2.117 billion, and revenue from ship interiors and third-party clients was €72 million. The cruise ship and naval vessel businesses accounted for 44% and 20% of consolidated total revenue, respectively.

In the offshore and special-purpose vessel segment, Fincantieri generated revenue of €1.356 billion (about ¥10.8 billion), remaining flat from 2024. The company secured a total of 11 new shipbuilding orders worth €1.291 billion (about ¥10.28 billion), including contracts for the design and construction of 5 cable-laying vessels, 4 multi-purpose robotic vessels, 1 offshore support vessel, and 1 research vessel.
