Yasa Limited has placed an order for eight new ships, with two Chinese shipyards securing the contracts

Turkish diversified shipping company Yasa has officially entered the container ship market through a newbuilding project and is expanding its tanker fleet with newly signed orders for Suezmax tankers.

Penglai Zhongbai Jinglu Ship Industry secured a contract for 2+2 3,100 TEU container Ships.

According to shipping data platforms, Yasa has placed an order with Jinglu Shipbuilding for 2+2 3,100-TEU container ships, with the first two vessels expected to be delivered in August and October 2028. The relevant shipbuilding contract was signed at the end of 2025 but has only recently been made public.

Currently, the estimated cost per vessel for similar models at Chinese shipyards is $45 million, but the specific cost for Yasa’s order has not yet been disclosed.

According to reports, Yasa did not own any container ships prior to placing an order with Jinglu Shipbuilding.

According to its official website, Jinglu Shipbuilding is a large, state-controlled modern major state-controlled shipbuilder specializing in the manufacture of ships and offshore engineering equipment. It occupies a total area of 1.8 million square meters and has an annual production capacity of 1 million deadweight tons. The company operates one 300,000-ton dry dock, as well as one each of 35,000-ton, 10,000-ton, and 5,000-ton floating docks. Its outfitting wharves have a total length of approximately 3,000 meters, and it is fully equipped with specialized shipbuilding facilities, including 1,000-ton and 500-ton shipbuilding gantry cranes. In terms of ship repair and construction, the facility is capable of undertaking repair and modification projects for all types of vessels under 200,000 tons.

Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited secures order for 2+2 Suezmax Tankers.

According to sources in the shipbuilding industry, Yasa Tanker, the tanker shipping subsidiary of Yasa, has signed a contract with CSSC for the construction of 2+2 Suezmax tankers, with delivery expected in 2028 and 2029. This order was also signed in 2025.

Yasa has previously collaborated with CSSC, with its subsidiaries Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company each building two Aframax tankers for the company, which are scheduled for delivery in 2026.

In March 2026, SWS delivered the first Aframax tanker, the “YASA LEOPARD,” built for Yasa. The first Aframax tanker built by DSIC for Yasa was christened on December 28, 2025; this vessel marks DSIC’s first entry into the Turkish market.

According to its official website, the Yasa Limited is a diversified shipping company known for its dry bulk and tanker fleets. It currently operates a fleet of 54 vessels, including 38 bulk carriers and 16 tankers ranging in size from MR-class product tankers to Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), with a total carrying capacity exceeding 1.5 million deadweight tons.
